Frigjort præsenterer ugandiske Nihiloxica på Loppen den 8. april, til en aften hvor to dansekulturer forenes i et mørkt og energisk møde mellem bugandiske trommer og UK bass!
Spooky J og pq korrumperer Nilotica Cultural Ensemble med techno indflydelser og en hel masse mørke. Mens ugandisk musik ofte berører livets lysere sider, tager Nihiloxica Bugandas trommer og eksporterer dem til underverden og tilbage i et live projekt designet til at udforske den trance-lignende tilstand skabt af traditionelle bugandiske percussion-trupper og blander det med Europas kælder-klubkultur designet til at bringe folk i samme tilstand.
Med en debut EP, som blev rost verden over, en debut performance som headliner på Ugandas Nyege Nyege festival og en hæsblæsende showcase på Berlins CTM festival, er der kun et spørgsmål tilbage: Hvad bliver det næste?
På deres seneste udgivelse ‘Source of Denial’ dykker Nihiloxica dybere ned i deres studioproduktion og udtværer grænsen mellem akustisk og syntetisk lyd yderligere. Ekstreme metal-elementer er nu også en del af Nihiloxicas musikalske underverden, der giver et brutalt afbræk fra det meditative stadie, som de bugandiske trommer kan fremkalde hos publikum.

N.E. GIRL
N.E. Girl er en DJ, som født i Nairobi, vokset op i Sydlondon og som kanaliserer lydsystemsenergi ind i hurtige og præcise klubsets. Hun begyndte at mixe tidligt i hendes liv og har skabt sig selv en karriere som DJ og promotor siden hun flyttede til København med fokus på momentum, bas og kreative transitioner i hendes sets. N.E. Girl er vel bekendt med Frigjort, hvor hun flere gange har lukket festivalen og velsignet os med sin tilstedeværelse bag pulten til et par one-off shows.
Hun spiller en time op til Nihiloxica, så alt er klar til at rulle, når hun er færdig med at varme os op.

Frigjort presents the Ugandan group Nihiloxica at Loppen on April 8th, for an evening where two dance cultures merge in a dark and energetic encounter between Bugandan drums and UK bass!
Spooky J and pq infuse the Nilotica Cultural Ensemble with techno influences and a whole lot of darkness. While Ugandan music often touches on the brighter sides of life, Nihiloxica take the drums of Buganda and export them to the underworld and back in a live project designed to explore the trance-like state created by traditional Bugandan percussion groups, blending it with Europe’s basement club culture—also designed to bring people into that same state.
With a debut EP praised worldwide, a debut headlining performance at Uganda’s Nyege Nyege Festival, and a blistering showcase at Berlin’s CTM Festival, only one question remains: What’s next?
On their latest release, “Source of Denial,” Nihiloxica dive deeper into their studio production, further blurring the line between acoustic and synthetic sound. Extreme metal elements are now also part of Nihiloxica’s musical underworld, providing a brutal contrast to the meditative state that Bugandan drums can evoke in the audience.

N.E. GIRL
N.E.GIRL is a Nairobi-born, South London-raised DJ who channels sound system energy into a fast, precise club presence. She began mixing early and has built a career around DJing and promoting since moving to Copenhagen, focusing on momentum, bass, and creative transitions. N.E.GIRL is no stranger to Frigjort, having played closing sets several times, as well as a few one offs where she had blessed the decks.
She'll be performing for an hour before Nihiloxica, so everything will be ready to roll about the time she is done.
