Den amerikanske rapper og producer kommer på dansk grund med sit live band Good Compny!
Oddisee (aka Khalifa) skulle egentlig have gået på kunstskole i Maryland, men efter introduktion til rap og soul i slut-90'erne blev han hurtigt optaget af musikken. Som en del af Diamond District har han arbejdet sammen med bl.a. MC og producer Kenn Starr, Kev Brown, Jazzy Jeff, Talib Kweli.
Det første soloalbum som Oddisee 'Foot in the Door' udkom i 2006, og i 2010 udgav han 'Traveling Man', der fik sin debut på Mello Music Group. I maj 2015 udkom 'The Good Fight' - et album der for alvor placerer Oddisee som en vedkommende og genreudfordrende rapper. Albummet er produceret af Oddisee selv.
Oddisee is taking his music to a place where no man has gone before, paving the path for all the others to come. (...) The arrangements are jazzy and their complexity is fun to explore, while the record remains light-footed and catchy at all times. It becomes a bit more intellectual when the lyrics kick in, but Oddisee refrains from all the rap-clichés and instead convinces us with personal and interpersonal topics. He wears his heart on his toungue in every single track.
The Good Fight is technically a hip-hop record, but the vibe here is decidedly eclectic, building upon the kaleidoscopic method he’s employed for 13 years. (...) He’s always created on his own terms, but The Good Fight feels like a hearty "fuck you" to prevailing groupthink and the industry’s creative limitations.
