The "Greatest Rock n' Roll Band in the World's" ninth studio album is a blistering return to their punk rock roots. Featuring 12 new soon-to-be Supersuckers classics, GET THE HELL is a tightly focused sonic assault of big riffs, catchy hooks and raw, balls-to-the-wall rock n' roll.
Recorded at Willie Nelson's famed Arlyn Studio in Austin, TX and mixed by Dwarves leader Blag Dahlia and Andy Carpenter, GET THE HELL conjures all the attitude of a band in it’s
prime, kicking out snarling, anthemic choruses over head-bobbing chord progressions.
“Get The Hell”, the opening title track, fires a warning shot across the bow, with singer Eddie Spaghetti offering his road weary wisdom over the menacing groove of recent addition, drummer Captain Von Streicher (of Throw Rag fame). “You wanna hear about the evil and the wicked things/I'd love to tell you, but I can't because of what it brings”, before finishing the sentiment in true Supersuckers form, “When you're staring down the mouth of
this unruly beast/You might crap your pants or wet 'em at the very least.”
On the remainder of GET THE HELL, the Supersuckers spin tales of romantic debauchery (“High Tonight”), biblically proportioned excess (“Gluttonous”), hard-boiled obsession (“Something About You”) and the trials and tribulations of being a total fuck up (“Fuck
Up”). Never one to shy away from a good (and completely unexpected) cover song, the ‘Suckers exhibit their sonic dominance tackling Gary Glitter’s “Rock On” and soft rocker’s
Depeche Mode’s popular “Never Let Me Down Again”.
Since their 1992 Sub Pop debut, the Supersuckers have toured relentlessly, sharing stages around the world with Social Distortion, Bad Religion, The Ramones, Motörhead, Flogging
Molly, Butthole Surfers, Reverend Horton Heat, New York Dolls, The Dwarves, White Zombie and Nashville Pussy. They have also recorded with Steve Earle, Eddie Vedder, Kelley Deal (The Breeders) and Willie Nelson, who they also backed on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
Slated for a January 2014 release, GET THE HELL is the Supersuckers first studio album in 5 years and their first release on Acetate Records. SPV will release the record in Europe.
RED SKY WIZARD
Rock and Roll is dead. The dismal verdict is, that failing record sales and a wave of mass- produced popmusic and hiphop, has declined rock and roll into the shadows of oblivion.
Luckily not everyone is faced by these dire prospects. There are still bands that are brave enough to put everything on the line; bands that dare to be different and have the guts to let the music be in charge. There is still somebody out there who does not conform to the recipe-soaked blandness of the popcharts.
Proud to fan the flames of rock, Red Sky Wizard are one such band. Based in Copenhagen, this kick-ass, garage foursome puts the pedal to the metal with furious drums and adventurous bass lines bottoming a howlin’ twin-guitarred attack and delivers raw and authentic rock’n’roll in its very purest form! A welcoming break from the nondescript bands cloned by semi-major labels, that we have come to know all too well in the Danish music scene. Their inspiration comes from such distant places as New Zealand, where The Datsuns has their home turf as well as the brotherly shores of Sweden from where The Hellacopters used to spread their infectious craft. The sound of The Stooges, MC5, Sonics Rendevouz Band, The Sword, Black Sabbath and also heavier & psychedellic bands resonates with Red Sky Wizard...
Following rigorous work in other bands, recording and on the road, Red Sky Wizard decided to channelize their creativity into their self-titled EP, released in 2013. Armed with this powerful weapon, the task at hand is to conquer the world and defend the faith of pure and unrefined guitar-driven rock. Comfortable on stage, Red Sky Wizard’s members have been playing together for eight years in different bands ( such as The Barlon Mandroes, Syreregn, Reborn Maggots and Prison Punk) and played over a thousand shows – always delivering performances saturated with energy, ambition and attitude.
