CASTLE

CASTLE formed in 2009 and released their debut album “In Witch Order” on the German label Van Records (The Devil’s Blood) in 2011. The album brought light to the newly-formed band and earned them “Album of the Year” honors from Metal Hammer Norway, as well as Roadburn Festival’s “Newcomer of the Year.” Shortly after, the band signed with Prosthetic in North America and released their critically acclaimed sophomore album “Blacklands,” which earned a nomination for “metal/hard music album of the year” at the Juno Awards (Canada’s equivalent to the Grammys). The band supported the release playing over 200 shows worldwide alongside acts including The Sword, Intronaut and Witch Mountain in addition to appearing at some of the scene’s largest festivals (Roadburn, London Desertfest).

THE NEW KEEPERS OF THE WATER TOWERS
New Keepers of the Water Towers is a group in a state of constant transformation. Since forming in 2006, the band have re-invented themselves and their music with every record they create! Following the release of 2013’s “The Cosmic Child” which was featured as Roadburn’s Album of the Day, the band set out to perfect their live performance experience, adding new members and instruments to the ever growing wall of sound. Cosmic soundscapes, eerie noises and psychedelic outbreaks are some of the elements featured in the mighty live show.
The array of progressive and psychedelic sounds swell and swirl in the tide of the rhythmic guitar lines, caressed by flowing bass-lines and perfectly paced drumming. The gut-rumbling rock is orchestral in feeling, with an undeniable largesse. Stepping away from the heavier sludginess prevalent in their previous works, New Keepers of the Water Towers have evolved into an auditory experience comparable to a profound journey through outer space – and nowhere better to witness this than within Christiania, at Loppen, at the final edition of HDDT!

GAS GIANT
Copenhagen based Gas Giant have been jamming since 1996, formed initially under the band name Blind Man Bluff – which changed in 1999. Balancing sledgehammer riffs with catchy hooks, this pioneer in Danish stoner rock are producing mature songs with strong melodies, never abandoning their heavy roots! Bringing together the best aspects of 70’s heavy rock, contemporary stoner psychedelia, and dirty acid, Gas Giant incorporate garagey riffs, spaced out soundscapes and a general flowing groove rich with catchy hooks!
Their track ‘Too Stoned’ was featured on High Times magazine’s compilation “High Volume: The stoner rock edition”, and their album Mana released in 2003 has received great praise in the years since – we look forward to kicking off the final edition of Heavy Days in Doom Town with these deadly Danes!

MYRESKÆR (acoustic performance at the art opening)
Danish garage-blues-psych project Myreskær is simple, flowing quietly into your ear canal leaving traces of quirky events that will stick to your mind. The sound universe is psych-blues with folk sneaking its way in, yet all in all it is rocking and loud. Myreskær’s album “Umiddelbart Banalt” is split in two parts. The first written, recorded and played by Myre Knudsen in New York and Copenhagen. These recordings were made at random with amplifiers, instruments and microphones that were simply within reach, making this part of the album more desperate and lo-fi in its ambiance and expression. This is the embryo of Myreskær. January 2014 brought the recordings for the Second part of the album which are backed by a full band! The Second is a metamorphosis of sound. Between the two formats of creatoin, Myreskær develops and you can hear the growth which brings a different vibration but a nuance in soul; Desperation, sorrow, love, change and emotion!
