M.E.T.A is the sound of a beautiful nightmare. It's beauty found in the ugly. It's a unique sound in-between digital and analogue. But first of all M.E.T.A is Maria and Andreas - two young talents from Copenhagen who's passion for music has already set the course for their lives.

In spite of their young age and the fact that M.E.T.A only just saw the light of the day in 2012, they both have years with music under their belts. Maria as singer and rapper in various projects and now as a singer in the Danish gypsy punk band Patchanka; while Andreas shook up the Danish hip hop underground as one of the founding fathers of Intelligent Pushing. Together they have spent a year of intense rehearsing, producing and rehearsing yet more. The result: their own sound which spells out M.E.T.A.

Even though Maria and Andreas have different musical backgrounds, the Copenhagen duo has a common predilection for Depeche Mode and Portishead.

No doubt there are some clear references to those exact artists. But the difference is just as clear as the resemblance. The difference is that we bring that coldish and urban Scandinavian sound onto the table, explains Andreas.

One could describe the soundscape of M.E.T.A as trip hop, but the band are not much into labeling and insists that the only way to really discover M.E.T.A is live on stage. What hits you first is the powerful depth and technical range of Marias vocal. Next is the underlying beats, deep bass and ripping guitars, all played live. For that purpose M.E.T.A has brought the lead guitarist and drummer from Patchanka onto the stage. It's in this digital/analogue in-betweenness you feel, hear and see what M.E.T.A is. It's trip hop, its soul, its rock and its punk - and everything in between that.

In 2013 the duo released two demos. Shortly thereafter Red Bull invited them to do a recording session at the studios in Copenhagen. Around New Year M.E.T.A will release their first 4 track EP which will be available for free download.
